My daughter and I met this a.m. to check out an estate sale from a historical family in our area. While the ad said it began at 9 a.m., we were there at 8 and it was lucky we were. While they didn't open the house and deck area until 9, they did let us into the garage at 8 ish. It was great fun in there. Before we were even in the garage, I had told the man managing the garage that I wanted this cabinet. It has a great metal top and is a sturdy little old cabinet. It cost $20. Great price as far as I was concerned. It is now in my work room to help hold the numerous things I have there. One of the things my daughter found was a very cute and well made little desk top cabinet made by a prisoner while in prison. It has a roll top front and a bunch of little drawers and cubbies inside. Very cute. Have a good Memorial Day weekend.
creeksiderummager
We live next to a beautiful little creek. And, for years now, I have loved to Rummage through old stuff. Hence the name Creekside Rummager. I love flea markets, junk stores, and unique shops that are artistic in what they do with old stuff. My blog is a place to gather photographs of things I find beautiful, interesting, and fun. This will include rust, chippy paint, wire, and old junk, but will also include gardens, favorite places and animals. All of these things are apart of our lives.

BHG Country Gardens Summer 2012
My daughter called this afternoon obviously excited about something and asked if I'd looked at my copy of the BHG Country Garden Summer 2012 issue. I had glanced through it, but not in any detail. I got my copy out and she told me to go to "Treasure Hunt" by Junkmarket Style. Then she told me to look at the photo in the lower left corner of page 56. I looked and then I was excited too. Last year my daughter found an iron piece just like the one that Sue Whitney is holding in the photo. My daughter bought it and it was shipped across country to become a gift to me. You could use it as "MOM" or turn it the other way and have it say "WOW". Of course in our yard, it says "MOM". I was very proud of my daughter for finding and picking out a piece that Sue Whitney also found and ultimately got into a photo in this magazine we both enjoy so much. Such a good daughter!

Fun new stuff
Went to a great little sale this weekend where some of my favorite seller/friends were selling. Came home with a car full.
Love this chair. White with rust - yes, perfect and comfy too with cushions.
Great old metal tool box came all planted.
Cute little old cart. I've not really loaded it to set it off the best yet.
I went to another sale a few weeks ago of a cement business going out of business and it was great fun.
Found lots of interesting rusty metal there, but also got this base for cheap.
Works well for this planted bird bath.
I just love this. It is 2 pieces and I haven't decided yet how to use them, but I will.

Using what's in the Garden
I got the idea for this on Pinterest. I had an old bird bath pedestal I wasn't using and an old metal tractor disk. I paired them up and was going to plant the succulents in the disk, but these were well settled in this old feeder. I hope they will eventually drape over the disk.

new garden area
Beginning last fall we began a project of expanding our garden area into a previously unused area on our property. This involved tearing down our old vine covered fence and putting up a new one. In January we began getting things ready for planting this spring. I got the tub in the 1st photo for $10 at an estate sale and the cart I got from my friends at Old Soul Studios. I like how it looks, but it actually is practical. I may need to move it to locate it in the sunniest area. With the cart I can move the tub even with the soil in it. Now I have good soil in the planters and the drip system extended to this area. Now I just need spring.
I found a picture in a garden magazine of a planter something like this one. We didn't copy it exactly, but we used the picture as inspiration. I have also seen similar picture on Pinterest. I had salvaged some tin siding from my sister-in-law's place. It has some nice age. The bottom had some extreme rust so I cut that off.
I've had 2 of these metal bins forever and have used them in a variety of ways. So now one is in this new area to provide a handy place to stick stuff when I'm working out there.
Things look blah with no plants, so please try to visualize how nice it will look with veggies and flowers come summer.

Ready for Christmas
I think it was on Pinterest that I saw a picture of a bed spring Christmas tree that someone had made and knew I would have to try this too. So, even though Christmas is a long ways off, I decided I'd better do it now while I was inspired. It took awhile to figure out how to put the springs together. I used two different style of spring. Now it's ready for ornaments next December.

2nd purpose
This seems like an unusual re-purposing, but it worked. This old sieve has found it's way into our house and onto a lamp to serve as a lamp shade. The sieve had been residing outside in the garden for a number of years. It had succulents planted in it for part of that time. Yesterday I was out in the garden wandering around looking for something else and my eyes settled on the sieve and saw a lampshade. There's just no explanation for what happens sometimes. So I took it in the house, gave it a good wash and looked for a lamp it might fit. And here it sits.
