Ruby Beach, WA

Ruby Beach was my favorite beach on our trip. I could have spent all day there just searching the beach for "ruby" rocks. It was a rocky more than sandy. The were huge amounts of driftwood including the shelter above. I saw these driftwood shelters on a number of beaches.

More found metal and rust

This metal art was found at Jim Brewer's place in Klickitat, WA. He was such a nice man. Now dubbed "Fred", this metal dog has been added to our garden. I also found the the larger wheel and the small lathe wheel at Jim's. He was kind to allow me to pick through his art supply piles.

back from Washington and Canada with rust

We drove about 2900 mi. on this trip. When we were on
Vancouver Is, at Salmon Point (about 3/4 of the island north on the east inward side) we stayed put for a few days. We were right on the ocean and the tide was bringing gifts in daily. This was one of the things we hauled home. My husband and our friends teased me a lot about the "bomb" I was taking home. We had a lot of laughs about this. I would have worried, but I knew our friends and my husband wouldn't let me bring it home if it looked dangerous. It is very heavy. I tried to carry it up the rocks in a backpack and nearly fell over when the weight shifted on my back. My husband retrieved it for me. It has a little lifted metal piece at one end, but it doesn't appear to have been a loop. It is about 8" long and maybe 6" across. Anyone have any ideas what it is?????

Dreaming of winter

OK - I know this is a little premature - but I came across this pic from last winter and it got me to dreaming about cold weather and all the changes that come with the season change.

Scary Sunday

I didn't take this shot, it is from the website of our local paper. This Sunday fire was in a populated area and took over 60 houses. We were in the extended area of possible evacuation and we prepared. But, thankfully, due to the firefighters, the fire was contained before it did any further damage. It was a devastating day for those lost everything.
